2016 Book Challenge: January – New Year, New Author!

Happy New Year friends! Wow, it’s already the 21st, this year is already flying by! Time goes faster when you have a lot of fun stuff going on, though. Stay tuned 🙂 This month’s challenge is about discovering new authors. I can be a bit behind in terms of the “book world,” so, for my first time, this month I stumbled across Sophie Kinsella… Sophie Kinsella is a well known YA author from London, who entered the scene in 2000. She is best known best for her most popular work, the Shopaholic Series,…

2015 Book Challenge: April: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart was the best book I read in April (I read four books, you can find them all here) and is one of my favorites this year. There are so many quotes from this book that I’d like to paste memes here for, but alas, I will only paste a few for you. This book was so deep and powerful for me – ok, it IS officially my favorite read of 2015 so far. I think it was so powerful because I did not see the twist…

2015 Book Challenge: March: Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

For the month of March, I read Uninvited by Sophie Jordan. This is the first book of the Uninvited series. The author, Sophie, has not announced how many books will be in this series, but she did just announce the title of the second book, which is not available for sale yet. If you are interested, you can  pre-order it, it is called Unleashed. Uninvited is about a girl who lives a blessed life, with rich parents, an upstanding neighborhood, a private school, the boyfriend that all the girls at…

2015 Book Challenge: February: What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

This month I read The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. Its a beautiful novel taking place in Australia, and the author does a great job of making you feel like you are connected to the characters. Her descriptions are great and even though she can be wordy at times, you end up relating to each character and feeling emotions along with them. I read another of Ms. Moriarty’s books, called What Alice Forgot, and you read read that post here.  The audiobooks are a joy to listen to because they chose…

2015 Book Challenge: April: Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

I read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel with one of my book clubs for our April 2015 group read. This book centers around three to five (it would be arguable, perhaps) main characters, Kirsten, Arthur, Miranda, Clark, and Jeevin. It is mostly based in the post apocolyptic world, after The Georgia Flu kills 99% of the world’s population, but the story jumps back and forth to different parts of the characters’ lives, before and after the “event,” weaving them together with hints of connections here and there. I…

2015 Book Challenge: January: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

My book choice for January 2015 was Insurgent by Veronica Roth. This is the second book in the Divergent series, which is officially three books, although Ms. Roth is coming out with more books focusing on individual characters and their histories. This trilogy is being made into moves as well, the first one based off the first book (Divergent) came out in March 14, 2014, and the second movie based off the second book (Insurgent) came out March 20, 2015, and I expect the third movie (Allegient) to come out in…

2014 Book Challenge: Year End Review

Hi friends! As you may already know, I am pretty active on Goodreads.com and love to read in my spare time. I’d like to start doing some regular posts about the books I am reading, have read, recommend, hate, love, etc. I think I’ll start off this series of posts with a review of what I read in 2014 and my reading goals for 2015. So let’s get started! Last year, I challenged myself to read eight (8) books. When I was younger, I could easily pound out 20 books in the…
