Book Review: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of…

2015 Book Challenge: July Minesweeper Challenge

Another classic game was featured in my book club’s July Challenge! Minesweeper! So the rules are basic, you read a book & you get to pick a box on the minesweeper board. Behind it, there will either be bonus points (ranging from +1 to +5) or a bomb, which is nothing! You get a point for each book read, a point for each book you read with a buddy, and any bonus points that you receive. The team to get the most points, wins! I read eight books in July, so I got eight points…

Manicure Monday: Essie’s Sunday Funday & Bikini So Teeny

I got this inspiration from a fellow instagrammer, Stunninbmwnails, I’ll post her post below! Thank you!! I was drawn to the contrasting colors. I decided to do a simpler version than Stunninbmwnails and just put some sparkle on the middle finger, I used Essie’s Sparkle On Top. I love the two colors, Essie’s Sunday Funday (pink) and Bikini So Teeny (blue), because they are soooo close to being one coat wonders, & they go on nicely. The colors are quickly opaque, which you know I love. The blue, Bikini So Teeny,…

2015 Book Challenge: June Jumanji Game

In June, my book club is playing the JUMANJI Challenge!!! Basically you and your team have to make it across the Jumanji board game. Each square on the board represents a different category. If you read a book that fulfills that category, you get to advance to the next square! The goal is to get from Start to Finish on the game board as quickly as possible. Here are the books I have been assigned to read, and our Jumanji “board.” Click on the book title to view my Goodreads…

2015 Book Challenge: May: Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

A super quick read which a lot of you may have heard of – Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen was one of my book club’s May 2015 book choices; I did not previously own this book, and I bought it off Amazon for about $11 including shipping. This popular story is probably best known for the movie adaption which features Anjelina Jolie, Winona Ryder, Brittany Murphy, Whoopi Goldberg, and more well known actors. Personally, I enjoyed this book. I am interested in this story of psych story and enjoyed similar books such as…

2015 Book Challenge: April: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Much to my surprise and pleasure, I’ve had extra time this month to read. I have set my 2015 goal on Goodreads to 30 books, and I have to read more than one book a month to accomplish that! If you’re not on Goodreads.com or don’t know what I mean, Goodreads.com is an online community of book lovers and they let you set a “goal” or “challenge” for yourself of how many books you want to or strive to read that year. Last year I conservatively set my goal at…

REVIEW: Benefit’s Her Name Was Glowla – Her Glam Make Up Kit

In the mornings I do my makeup before I have my latte so… the easier, the better. There’s no thought required with this kit, and it gives the perfect natural sun-kissed glow. The Benefit kit comes with Coralista (blush), High Beam (a cool luminescent highlighter), Moon Beam (a warm shimmery highlighter), a 5-color eye palette, BadGal Lash (mascara), Life on the A List (lip gloss) & a double ended fluff-shadow/hard-angle brush. These eye shadows are the best, ever. The texture and consistency is silky and smooth and blends perfectly even…

REVIEW: NYX Bronzer & Blush Combo

This is currently my favorite Bronzer AND Blush, and its even better because its a two in ONE product! It is a Bronzer & Blush Combo (BBC) by NYX & the shade is Sunrise in Bali. It is even featured in my What’s In My Bag? Makeup Bag: August 2013 post that you can read HERE. Some say that the blush side is a good dupe for NARS Orgasm, as it is a warm, peachy, bright pink color with gold undertones and it is very pigmented. The Bronzer side isn’t…
