August 2016 Book Challenge

Every August I participate in the Mega Month Challenge on Goodreads in the YA Buddy Readers’ Corner group. This year, from August 1st-31st, there is a Page Count Challenge, a Spelling Bee Challenge, and two more challenges including Hangman, and a Non-Reading Challenge. Here I will track and play two of these games and you can play along with me, even if you’re not on Goodreads or aren’t in the YA Buddy Readers’ Corner group! Booktube-A-Thon July 2016: DAY 4

Day 4, over halfway done! I started The Magicians by Lev Grossman today, but only made 34 pages. Its a really good 34 pages though!! I really can’t wait to see what is happening… George R.R. Martin himself said, “The Magicians is to Harry Potter as a shot of Irish whiskey is to a glass of weak tea.” I MEAN, COME ON!!! This is gonna be good. The morning of Day 4 brought the panic of Booktube-A-Thon being over halfway over, and the fact that I’ve only completed ONE BOOK.…

Booktube-A-Thon July 2016: Day 3

Day 3 …. oh, dear Day 3. A sad reading day for me, lol. I had a long day at work, and although I left work early, I didn’t get home until an hour after I usually do, because of traffic. It was worse today than usual because I work near a stadium in a major city, and there was a day game… so… game traffic… woo-hoo… So needless to say when I got home I crashed on the couch. My boyfriend got home about the same time as I…

Booktube-A-Thon July 2016: DAY 2

Day 2 has come to a close! I finished my first book today, Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos! It was spectacular! Very engrossing and moving. Wonderful writing, fully of depth and content. I will definitely give another one of Marisa’s books a try, even though this is not a genre I would reach for first. More encouraging is the fact that this is a favorite author of the owner of my favorite bookstore in Northern Michigan! I read another 50-some pages of my “after sunset” challenge book,…

Booktube-A-Thon July 2016: DAY 1

Day 1 is done!! I got about half way through my first book, Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos. It took me about 100 pages to get into it, but before I even realized it, I was deeply hooked into the lives of these characters and the mutual problem that brought them all together. I really can’t wait to see how this plays out. And I’m really considering picking up another book by Marisa de los Santos … I’m just wary of “mushy” stories. This wasn’t “mushy” per se,…

2016 Book Challenge: January – New Year, New Author!

Happy New Year friends! Wow, it’s already the 21st, this year is already flying by! Time goes faster when you have a lot of fun stuff going on, though. Stay tuned 🙂 This month’s challenge is about discovering new authors. I can be a bit behind in terms of the “book world,” so, for my first time, this month I stumbled across Sophie Kinsella… Sophie Kinsella is a well known YA author from London, who entered the scene in 2000. She is best known best for her most popular work, the Shopaholic Series,…
