Stacking the Shelves: April 2016

I am starting my very own original series here on The Daily Waltz, called Stacking the Shelves! This will be a monthly post to let you know what is coming up for the next month. I wasn’t satisfied doing just the Bookshelf Update series, which is a retroactive series of recaps each month. If I do a proactive post each month it will help us with all the exciting Read-A-Thons happening in 2016 that we have to plan for!! 🙂 The TBR List just helps me organize what I’m reading this month, and what…

2016 Book Challenge: January – New Year, New Author!

Happy New Year friends! Wow, it’s already the 21st, this year is already flying by! Time goes faster when you have a lot of fun stuff going on, though. Stay tuned 🙂 This month’s challenge is about discovering new authors. I can be a bit behind in terms of the “book world,” so, for my first time, this month I stumbled across Sophie Kinsella… Sophie Kinsella is a well known YA author from London, who entered the scene in 2000. She is best known best for her most popular work, the Shopaholic Series,…

2015 Book Challenge: July Minesweeper Challenge

Another classic game was featured in my book club’s July Challenge! Minesweeper! So the rules are basic, you read a book & you get to pick a box on the minesweeper board. Behind it, there will either be bonus points (ranging from +1 to +5) or a bomb, which is nothing! You get a point for each book read, a point for each book you read with a buddy, and any bonus points that you receive. The team to get the most points, wins! I read eight books in July, so I got eight points…

2015 Book Challenge: June Jumanji Game

In June, my book club is playing the JUMANJI Challenge!!! Basically you and your team have to make it across the Jumanji board game. Each square on the board represents a different category. If you read a book that fulfills that category, you get to advance to the next square! The goal is to get from Start to Finish on the game board as quickly as possible. Here are the books I have been assigned to read, and our Jumanji “board.” Click on the book title to view my Goodreads…

Have you ever played BINGO? Of course you have. If you haven’t (are you sure!?), you know how to play BINGO, I am sure. In the book reading world, our version of BINGO is called Bookish Blocks. One of my book clubs decided to play Bookish Blocks for the month of May, and the below is our game board. If you read a book that fits the description in a box, you fulfill that box. If fulfill a whole row (up, down or diagonally from the corners), you get 5…

2015 Book Challenge: February: What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

This month I read The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. Its a beautiful novel taking place in Australia, and the author does a great job of making you feel like you are connected to the characters. Her descriptions are great and even though she can be wordy at times, you end up relating to each character and feeling emotions along with them. I read another of Ms. Moriarty’s books, called What Alice Forgot, and you read read that post here.  The audiobooks are a joy to listen to because they chose…
